# Track installs from each creator and influencer

> Give each creator or influencer a separate link. Installs that follow a tap are matched back to the creator, so you can compare channels by installs.

Give each creator their own WarpLink link, with a slug that names them and UTM fields that name the channel. Followers tap that link, and the installs that follow are matched back to it. The link page then shows clicks and installs per creator, so you can see who brought people into the app.

## How it works

1. **Make one link per creator.** Create a link for each creator with a slug that names them, such as jane-doe. Point the destination at the screen you want their audience to reach, and tag the link so the whole group is easy to filter.
2. **Set the UTM fields once.** Fill utm_source with the creator and utm_medium with creator. WarpLink adds them to the destination URL on redirect, so your web analytics sees the same names the link report does.
3. **Add a preview card.** Set a title, description and image on the link. When a crawler builds the card in a feed or a chat, it reads those fields. People who tap get the redirect.
4. **Send each creator their own link.** A creator pastes the link in a bio, a description or a story. Do not share one link across creators, because a shared link cannot say who sent the tap.
5. **Cover people without the app.** A follower without the app lands on the store page. With the SDK in your app, the first launch after install opens the screen the creator pointed to.
6. **Read the results per creator.** The link list and the Analytics page show clicks, unique clicks and installs for each link. Compare creators by installs, then export the click rows as CSV if you pay creators by result.

## Create a link for a creator

### REST API (TypeScript)

```typescript
// One link per creator. The slug names the creator, the UTM fields name the channel.
const response = await fetch("https://api.warplink.app/v1/links", {
  method: "POST",
  headers: {
      // API key from Keys > API
      Authorization: "Bearer wl_live_YOUR_API_KEY",
      "Content-Type": "application/json",
    },
  body: JSON.stringify({
    app_id: "3f9a1c2e-6b7d-4e1a-9c2f-8a5b1d0e7c44",
    slug: "jane-doe",
    destination_url: "https://app.example/welcome",
    utm_source: "jane-doe",
    utm_medium: "creator",
    tags: ["creators"],
  }),
});
const link = (await response.json()) as { short_url: string };
```

### MCP tool call

```json
{
  "tool": "get_link_analytics",
  "input": {
    "link_id": "3f9a1c2e-6b7d-4e1a-9c2f-8a5b1d0e7c44",
    "days": 7
  },
  "output": {
    "total_clicks": 1842,
    "unique_clicks": 1290,
    "time_series": [
      { "date": "2026-09-15", "total": 240, "unique": 178 },
      { "date": "2026-09-16", "total": 265, "unique": 191 }
    ],
    "sources": [
      { "source": "app_open", "total": 322, "unique": 210 },
      { "source": "redirect", "total": 1520, "unique": 1080 }
    ]
  }
}
```

## What you get

- **Linking.** A short link per creator that opens the app through Universal Links and App Links, or the right store page, with a preview card for the feed it lands in.
- **Attribution.** Installs that follow a tap on a WarpLink link, in any channel, are matched back to that link, so each creator has an install count and not only a click count.
- **Analytics.** Clicks, unique clicks and installs per link, a breakdown by country, device and referrer, and CSV export of the click rows.

## Questions

### How do I know which creator sent an install?

Each creator has a separate link. An install that follows a tap on that link is matched back to it by the SDK on first launch, and the link shows its installs next to its clicks.

### Can creators use the same destination?

Yes. Many links can point to one destination. The slug and the UTM fields tell them apart, so the destination does not have to change.

### Do I need the SDK to count installs per creator?

Clicks are counted without it. To match installs back to a link, add the SDK to your app so the first launch can ask for the match.

### Can I see a creator's results in a spreadsheet?

Yes. Export the click rows as CSV for the whole organization or for one link, including the UTM fields and whether each row was a unique click.

### Can I pause a link when a creator deal ends?

Yes. Pause the link in the dashboard or with an update call. The history stays, and you can resume the link later.
